Introduction to Ski Racing

Introducing ski racing to youth athletes ages 6-17 offers thrilling challenges, skill development, fosters independence and camaraderie. Skiers learn discipline, resilience, and teamwork, under experienced coaches’ guidance. Development of technique and confidence leads to a passion for the sport and lifelong friendships. Ski racing creates a foundation for a rewarding athletic journey in the life sport of skiing.

Life Skill Development

Our sport at Eldora Mountain Ski & Snowboard Club plays a significant role in nurturing key life skills crucial for personal growth and success. Among these valuable skills are independence, resilience, strong work ethic, unwavering perseverance, effective goal setting, and admirable sportsmanship.

Pathways to Success

Success can be achieved through many avenues for athletes. Including US Ski Team, collegiate and CHSA high school pathways. In addition to these we offer the ability for athletes to become the next generation of coaches to teach and inspire the future of our sport.

    • EMSC YSL goes from 2nd weekend in December through the end of March.

    • Choose between Saturday or Sunday training days.

    • U8-U12 8:30am-12:30pm U14-U18 8:30am-1:30pm

    • Lights on Chute gate training: Wednesdays 4:30-6:30pm 1/15/25-3/19/25

  • The Youth Ski League program is for athletes 6 to 17 years old.

  • Athletes should have participated in a multi week ski school program with parallel skiing ability and comfortable skiing blue/black terrain.

    No ski racing experience required.

  • YSL(Youth Ski League) is an introductory program to ski racing following US Ski and Snowboard developmental guidelines and focusing on:

    • Building solid skiing fundamentals through free skiing and gate training.

    • Understanding development of turn shape through proper use of body and equipment.

    • Experiencing the FUN of Giant Slalom, Slalom and Kombi within a safe and controlled venue.

    • Development of independence, work ethic, resiliency and accountability.

  • 8:25am Meet Coaches at Chute

    8:30-11:00am Directed free skiing, skill development and gate training.

    11:00-11:30am Snack/Hydration break

    11:30-12:30/1:30 Directed free skiing, skill development and gate training.

    *** Gate training for U8-U12 groups is typically 1hr. U14-U18 1.5-2hrs.

    *** Gate training times will be communicated to parents/staff each weekend

    • 4 Sunday events starting in January include Skills Quest, Kombi, Giant Slalom and Slalom within the Head Rebels YSL Series(Dates and locations to be announced).

    • Rocky Division YSL Championships: Open to all athletes(No Qualifying required)

    • Both of the above require athletes to have a US Ski and Snowboard competitors license. Race entry fees not included in program fees.

    • EMSC Home Series Events in Skills Quest, Giant Slalom and Slalom. Included with program fees.

  • Eldora Mountain is our home for all training and home events.

  • Athletes who plan on competing or doing travel days are encouraged to purchase an Ikon Pass.

    an Eldora Season Pass is a great option for those who wish to just train at home.

  • Families within the YSL program will be required to put down a $300 deposit that can be worked off through out the season at various club events.

  • YSL U8-U12: $2,095

    YSL U14-U18: $2,495

    YSL U8-U12 + 1 LOC: $2,708

    YSL U14-U18 + 1 LOC: $2,978
